larking(v): to engage in harmless fun or mischief (Merriam-Webster's Dictionary)
When I was five, I saw someone wearing a "Born to Shop" t-shirt and asked my mom for one that read "Born to Talk" instead. I told everyone that I wanted to be an author when I grew up. Some things never change.
I've been blogging since 2007 about books I've read and, more recently, about life with a baby, then with two little girls who will always be my babies. I write about other stuff too: right now, I'm focused on reflections from living in New Orleans for a year, far away from our life in the upper Midwest.

My blog title is a reference to one of the poems I loved sharing with students back in my previous life as an English teacher. I love the British term "having a lark" - it makes me think of a favorite quote from a favorite book of mine. And I can't help but let my teacher self spill over into my life now, though I promise not to be silently judging your grammar too much of the time.
I also have a little shop on Etsy. It's finally open again after our year-long southern sabbatical. I'm creating and making in the few moments when I'm not chasing kids and working on my writing.
I like my books written by Jane and Agatha, my skirts vintage and twirly, and my roses buttery yellow.
