monday morning mixtape -- with a twist! {challenge}

I know it's early on Monday morning -- are you up for a challenge?

When I started blogging much more regularly this past fall, the Monday Mixtape (here's the first one!) was one of the features I knew I wanted to keep for the long haul...but I'm starting to feel like I need a kick in the pants to step it up a notch.

We used to live in Boulder and when I wasn't at work on a weekday afternoon I always tried to catch KBCO's My Three Songs -- a daily listener contest where you had to try to guess the connection between the songs played in order to win concert tickets and other fun free stuff. Sometimes they were easy, sometimes impossibly hard -- but I love those kinds of puzzles, don't you?

Starting today, I'm instituting the My Three Songs challenge for all of my Monday Mixtape posts. Should you care to play, you can post your guess as to the connection between the songs in the comment section. ANY (not just the first) correct responses will be entered into a drawing later this summer for a Monday Mixtape care package, including a CD of some of my favorite songs from my Monday playlists. Play every week, increase your chances to win!

Ready? Okay!

 I'll update this post with the correct answer on Tuesday morning, so check back to see if you're a genius when it comes to music trivia!

UPDATE: High Fidelity is correct -- figured it'd be fun to start a music trivia game with a movie all about music snobs. Way to go, Ross, Suzi, and Stephanie :)

  1. I guess 'High Fidelity' as the connection.

  2. I couldn't figure it out on my own, but as soon as I saw the High Fidelity answers, it clicked, so I don't get an entry. I just wanted to say that I love this idea!

  3. Playing blog catch up and just saw this post. I too guessed High Fidelity before I even got to the third song. We got some John Cusack/Nick Hornby fans up in here! I used to have a movie poster of this hanging in my bedroom. aaaah, memories. I always said I was going to make a complete soundtrack, with aaallll the songs from the movie, not just those on the official soundtrack.
